I hope all the money that was made during the Olympics goes right back into their communities

Not to be a downer but it absolutely will not, like 60k people were displaced to build everything for the Rio games. The estimates go up to 1.5m displaced for the Beijing games.

It’s really pretty fucked up, and quite a problem.

The natives of the favela’s will never, ever see that money put back into their community. Not even half a penny.

I have been a sour puss to everyone’s Olympic pleasure on Facebook, because I keep posting how much it cost the city (basically bankrupt) and about the people displaced and changing bus routes to not have to hit the dangerous/ugly/poor spots of the city, thus having those in need in of public transportation either without, or taking much longer journeys. 

The fucking IOC should audit countries who participate for the bid. Brazil is hanging by a thread due to many scandals, huge corruption and yet they host TWO world events in less than 4 years. Pure ostenticity by a shitty government.

UGH. and of course the poor and middle class end up paying for that.
